The work of nurturing and building healthy communities will always be a big part of any culture at any time in history. So will the plethora of research for the factors that contribute to the well-being of individuals through their choice of communities and through their experiences of community belonging and collective resilience.

Community impacts people. Healthy communities help nurture healthy individuals. Healthy individuals help nurture healthy communities. And all people are either trying to survive, trying to thrive, or simply just experiencing health and well-being through healthy relationships with individuals and communities.

The forward movement toward well-being for any individual or community happens through conversations. Colloquy Communities is an organization that specializes in “respectful conversations” as the foundation of its identity and services. All members or participants of Colloquy meetings see and experience this. It contributes greatly to community belonging and collective resilience.

As one expat Bulgarian who is involved with Colloquy states, “International life is the key to help humanity to heal. To understand cultures, habits, ways of expression and communication between different cultures can be very hard, but if a person is open to seeing it [the other’s point of view], it will be much better and easier to exist and see positive improvements on this planet.”

Psychological research shows that people who belong to meaningful communities have significantly lower psychological distress than those who do not belong to communities. By communities, Colloquy considers this to mean a minimum of three people gathering at least once a month either in-person or online. These communities can include family, friends, vocational setting, various support networks, social media groups, or communities of faith and spirituality. Colloquy Communities offers such quality communities.
